Information Collection, Use and Sharing

IP Addresses:

When you visit our site, the following non-personally identifiable information is automatically obtained and compiled: Internet Protocol (IP) address, the domain name registry information associated with the IP address, the internet browser being used, operating system and hardware platform, the date and time of your visit, the name and address (URL) of the web page you viewed immediately prior to accessing the current page, the query / gateway you used in a search engine which linked you to our site data. This information is stored in log files on the web server.

If your browser is not configured to prevent disclosure of such information, the following information may also be revealed: your name, e-mail address, home and work addresses, telephone and fax numbers and any plain text commentary. Additionally, the complete record of your actions at the web site including all pages visited, time spent at each page, the information sent or received and the names of all files uploaded or downloaded are available. This tracking information is not compiled by us or aggregated and made available to third parties primarily to identify demographic data regarding our customers. It is important to note that IP addresses do not necessarily reveal the identity of an individual visitor. Since most individuals connect through an internet service provider (ISP) at work or at home, the IP address would identify the ISP and not that actual person. Users should refer to these specific instructions accompanying their browsers to ensure that personal information is not automatically being provided without their agreement.

JavaScript:

JavaScript is a programming language / program that are mostly used in web pages, usually to add features that make the web page more interactive (i.e. a web page such as an alert box, letting you know if you’ve filled out a form properly or not). When JavaScript is included in an HTML file it relies upon the browser to interpret the JavaScript. When JavaScript is combined with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and later versions of HTML (4.0 and later) the result is often called DHTML.

Cookies:

Cookies are text files stored on your computer which are sent back and forth by a Web Server to your Web Browser whenever you make new requests from a Web Server you are visiting. Simply put, cookies are text files a website stores on your computer’s hard drive or random access memory when you visit the Star Academy website. The file records / keeps track of purchases / shopping cart items in an on-line store. Once a transaction has been completed the cookie is erased or temporarily stored, depending on your browser settings. In some cases, this information is only kept during the session and is deleted when you close your browser. In other cases, the information is stored on your hard drive until your next session on the Star Academy website. When a server receives a request from a browser, the server is able to use the information stored in the cookie from that browser. The server is able to log the user’s requests on the website and send back an updated cookie to the user.

Cookies are temporary and are set to expire after a certain amount of time set in your browser settings. Depending on the type of cookie used, and your browsers’ settings, the browser may accept or not accept the cookie, and may save the cookie for either a short time or a long time. Cookies may contain information such as unique user ID that can be used to track the pages of the Star Academy website you have visited, login or registration information, online shopping cart information and user preferences. You do have the option to have your computer alert you each time a cookie is being sent or in other words “disable all cookies”. This is achieved through your internet browser settings. Should you choose to disable the cookies, your on-line experience on the website might be slower, limited, as well you will be recognized as a new visitor each time you visit the site and any previous session or form filling information will be lost and/or purged. The main purpose of cookies, are to re-call previous visit information thus permit ‘quicker’ and ‘faster’ access, display and reading of the website when revisited. Cookies identify your computer or browser and do not contain any personally identifiable information.

Star Academy uses cookies in order to improve your on-line / User Experience (UX) with us. If you register with us by sending a request for information, cookies help us to keep track of your use, interests, form filling and recognize your browser, when you return to our website.
