We rang in 2019 at Star with guest speaker Mark Quattrocchi from ME to WE visiting our school. Mark is a motivational speaker, sharing with us ways to create change in the world by turning passions into action.

Mark is inspirational and engaging when sharing his adventures. One day he got on his bicycle and embarked on a ride around the world. Mark cycled over 35 000 km, 40 countries and 5 continents, raising awareness and money for WE Education. He shared numerous stories and photos about his journey with Grades 3 through 8 about his endeavour and goal to build schools in different countries.

After Mark’s inspirational presentation, the Intermediate and Senior classes were lead through a workshop to create an action plan for the school. Students were interested in a wide variety of issues, including access to education and water. Students were busy brainstorming ways of getting involved with WE Walk for Water initiative which we are participating in later on in the school year. Our Five Pillars of Learning are engaged in multiple ways in this upcoming project!
